GLP-1 is an advanced multi-agonist peptide studied for its interaction with three key metabolic receptor systems: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors. Most peptides in this research area act on one receptor. The compound in this vial, was designed to act on three: the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR) and the glucagon receptor (GCGR).
It doesn’t act on all three equally. In cell-based assays it is most potent at GIPR, then GLP-1R, and least potent at GCGR. Compared with the body’s own hormones, it is weaker than native GLP-1 and glucagon at their receptors but stronger than native GIP at the GIP receptor. That uneven profile is what makes it interesting as a research tool.
